Aklan SU bags 1st, 2nd places in 17th research tilt
Banga, Aklan (25 September) -- The Aklan State University (ASU) bagged the first and second places in the Development and Poster Category in the 17th Regional Symposium on Research and Development Highlights (RSRDH) held on August 22 to 23, 2007 at the ASU Conference Hall, Banga, Aklan.
The University's entry entitled "Diesel Additive from Waste, Fats and Oils" by Engr. Tomas O. Ortega, Dr. Mary Eden M. Teruel and Prof. Arlene B. Dela Cruz won first place in both the Development and Poster Category. Likewise, another entry of the ASU entitled "Some Physical Properties of Tissue-Cultured Spanish Red" by Dr. Malco M. Teodosio, Dr. Lelisa J. Teodosio, Ms. Linarel Z. Gregorio, Dr. Evelyn P. Vedasto, Prof. Eleuterio V. Guarino, Prof. Arlene B. Dela Cruz and Dr. Danilo E. Abayon bagged the second place also in the Poster Category.
The ASU's "Diesel Additive" entry has not only won the awards from the 17th RSRDH, it also gained the attention and interest of other concerned agencies. This study has been recently chosen by the Department of Agriculture (DA) to receive a funding of around P2M due to its promising results.
The symposium, which was an annual activity of the Western Visayas Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESVARRDEC) in cooperation with its member agencies, was held to carry out its mission of harnessing the individual talents of assets and resources of member agencies for a more significant contribution to agriculture and natural resources, R and D sectors towards advancing regional development.
