'Sight for Kids' project launched in Bacolod City
Bacolod City (25 September) -- The Sight-for-Kids program was launched at the Education Training Center School II (ETCS) in Bacolod City recently by the Lions Club International Foundation to combat blindness.
The project started in Metro Manila last year and in Bacolod City, about 3,000 ETCS pupils were screened and 87 of them were found to have severe vision problems.
They were examined by volunteer ophthalmologist Rebecca Filasol, a member of the Bacolod Sampaguita Lions Club and were given corrective eyeglasses.
School principal Nelly Canilao and several teachers assisted the Club during the activity.
The project will cover other public elementary schools throughout Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
The screenings are coordinated by the Negros Lions Sight First Foundation, Inc. and assisted by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. (PIA/cad) [top]
