PNP regional chief receives Cebu Governor's Medal of Merit

Cebu City (25 September) -- Outgoing Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Director CSupt. Silverio D. Alarcio, Jr. received a Governor's Medal of Merit for his contribution in the successful holding of the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in January of this year.
In an oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected officers of the Vice Mayors' League and the Philippine Councilors' League â€" Cebu Chapters at the Provincial Capitol here Tuesday, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia commended Alarcio for initiating effective measures in securing the Summit.
According to Garcia, the success of the Summit put Cebu in the limelight not only in the national scene but also in the international arena and that the region's top police official have contributed greatly to that.
Supt. Alarcio, in his acceptance speech, thanked the people of Cebu and the provincial officials for extending support to the police regional office in helping maintain the peace and order situation of the province during the time that the Summit was held and in the recent conduct of the national and local elections.
Were it not for the support of the Cebuano public, those activities would not have been successful, he said.
The police regional chief vowed to enhance further the peace and order situation in the region, particularly in Cebu, through a â€śnetwork of relationships and bridges of friendshipâ€ť despite his being transferred to the PNP National Headquarters to occupy a directorship for operations.
Supt. Alarcio was the first to be conferred that Award.
The Governor's Medal of Merit is granted to everyone who made a significant contribution to the economic development and political stability of the province. (PIA 7) [top]
