P3-M Zone 4 barangay hall unveiled in Zamboanga
Zamboanga City (September 26) -- After decades of squatting in different offices, Zone 4 Barangay Council now boasts of its own barangay hall where public service is more convenient and comfortable.
Mayor Celso Lobregat on Monday afternoon formally turned over an imposing P3 million building to the Zone 4 barangay council led by Abraham Sakandal in fitting ceremonies attended by members of the City Council, chairmen of barangays from the central area and other stakeholders.
"The construction of this building symbolizes the city government's concern and priority being given to the barangays", Lobregat declared during the turn over as he cited other barangays that are either grantees or about to be granted with similar projects.
The two-storey spacious barangay hall ensures better governance and better delivery of services to the residents of Zone 4, the mayor stressed.
Since he assumed as the city's chief executive, Lobregat said new barangay halls were inaugurated and turned over to the barangay councils of Mercedes, Lunzuran, Tugbungan, Guiwan, Ayala, Sta. Catalina, Lumbangan and Sinunuc.
Similar projects are either being undertaken or soon to be constructed in the villages of Vitali, Canelar, Taluksangay, Mangusu, Pasonanca.
The barangay halls in Baliwasan, Sangali and Talisayan were also renovated and inaugurated under the present administration.
Aside from barangay halls, Lobregat said the city government also assists the barangays in the construction of multi-purpose buildings or covered sheds. Projects inaugurated and turned over to the barangay councils were those constructed in Calarian, Putik and Labuan.
"We will continue with these projects, we will help the barangays in whatever way we can", the mayor assured. He also urged the barangay officials in Zone 4 to properly take care of the building.
In the same speech, Lobregat also instructed the City Engineer's Office to prepare the final plans for the completion of the Tetuan barangy hall.
Meanwhile, Sakandal said residents of barangay Zone 4 are very grateful to the city government for the continuous assistance being given to their village. He promised to make proper use of the edifice and utilize it as a venue for better delivery of services to the public.
Also present during the turn over ceremony were Councilors Roel Natividad, Abdurahman Nuno, Rey Candido, Lilia Nuno, Lynet Abarro, Gerky Valesco and Jawo Jimenez, City health Officer Rodel Agbulos, Assistant City Engineer Rodrigo Rebollos, City Hall Executive Assistant on Barangay Affairs Felizardo de las Penas, Red Cross Administrator Vic Liozo and barangay chairmen from the villages within the city proper.
