RGIN releases database info system manual and guidelines

Tuguegarao City (September 26) -- The Regional Geographic Information Network (RGIN) Region 2, a multi-agency body under the Regional Development Council (RDC), has developed a database information system user's manual and metadata preparation guidelines.

The manual gives instructions to users of the RGIN Database Information System (RGIN DBIS) on its use and contains the schedule of fees to be charged in requesting for maps. The guidelines, on the other hand, will instruct users on the proper preparation if Geographic Information System (GIS) data. It contains technical descriptions and worksheets to help GIS technicians in collecting and referencing data.

The DBIS is a system designed to facilitate access to the map of the network by RGIN members and non-members through the Internet where those accessing the site can view various maps stored in the database. The user has only to request the network through the RGIN for either hard or electronic copies of map.

The twin manuals would make easier data and knowledge sharing, and, thereby, enhance the proper use of GIS and promote good governance.

The RDC in its last meeting conducted in Santiago City has adopted the manual and guidelines. (PIA Cagayan) [top]
