Aklan info officers to hold induction, forum on good governance

Kalibo, Aklan (26 September) -- With the aim of further empowering government information officers in Aklan and strengthening their rank, the Aklan Public Information Association (APIOA) here, in coordination with the Philippine Information Agency, will be holding a forum on Good Governance and Induction of its new set of officers on September 28 at the Gov. Corazon Cabagnot Tourism and Training Center in Old Buswang, Kalibo.
The forum will be attended by all members and officers of APIOA which will be one of the association's major activities for this year, besides electing and inducting its new set of officers.
The APIOA is composed of information officers from national government agencies and local government units here in Aklan who are either appointed or designated by their respective heads of offices or municipal mayors.
Speakers in the forum will include Max Zurbito, who will talk on "Promoting Tourism and Good Governance Through Public Information"; Odon Bandiola, who will talk about "Community Journalism and Good Governance"; and former Aklan Vice Governor, lawyer and journalist Ronquillo C. Tolentino, who will take up the topic "Media and Good Governance."
The forum will take first part of the activity and the second part will be the induction program.
APIOA officers to be inducted are Maribel S. Tolentino of Pag-IBIG-Aklan Service Center, President; Sally Villasis, ASU-Banga, Vice President; Deana G. Ruiz, DTI-Aklan, Secretary; Judith T. Tindog, NFA-Aklan, Treasurer; Ulysses V. Espartero, Provincial Governor's Office, Asst. Secretary Treasurer; PO1 Nida L. Gregas, Aklan Police Provincial Office, Auditor; Ferdinand Macogue, Civil Service Commission, Business Manager, and Leopoldo C. Sanchez, Jr., LGU-Numancia, Press Relations Officer.
Allen V. Alcedo of CBIS-Kalibo, Terence Toriano of LGU-Kalibo, Engr. Raquel Reontoy of NIA-Aklan, Msgt. Rhoda C. Roble of Philippine Army, Lucelyn S. Calizo of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Aster Oliva of DOST, Lynette Urquiola of DILG and Capt. Antonio G. Tumnog compose the Board of Directors.
The induction of the new APIOA officers will also be witnessed by Aklan Congressman Florencio T. Miraflores, Former Aklan Assemblyman and Minister of Public Information Jose T. Tumbokon, Governor Carlito Marquez and Vice Governor Gabrielle V. Calizo, who will all deliver their respective messages.
