Ms. Kagay-an Tourism leaves for 'Tapok' in Las Vegas

Cagayan de Oro City (26 September) -- REIGNING Miss Kagay-an Tourism 2007 Diana Bagunoc of Barangay Consolacion, Cagayan de Oro City, left yesterday for the United States to perform her role as the city's ambassadress of goodwill.

Bagunoc left for Las Vegas, together with Department of Tourism-10 Regional Director Catalino E. Chan III to attend the "Tapok," an annual gathering of Cagayanons and Misamisnons who are now permanently based in the United States.

As she left for the Tapok event, Bagunoc vowed to promote Cagayan de Oro as the best tourism and investment destination, not only to fellow Cagayanons, but also to other guests who will attend the reunion.

Bagunoc also carried with her some tourism promotion materials about Cagayan de Oro, which she will distribute to fellow Cagayanons abroad, including a video message of City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula for the Cagayanons and Misamisnons abroad.

The 11th Tapok in Las Vegas, Nevada will be held starting tomorrow, September 27 to 30, at the Tuscany Suites and Casino.

The activities for the Tapok include "The First Encounter," which happens Thursday, Sept. 27, to include registration and business exhibits by Cagayanon entrepreneurs.

Roy Gaane, president of Kagay-anon International, disclosed that the opening day is the most exciting part as this will be the encounter of friends from the different cities, states and countries who have not seen each other for long.

On Sept. 28, there will be a grand Tapok Fellowship were the "tapokeros" are asked to come in their outfits of the 1950's to the 1980's in consonance with this year's Tapok theme, "Blast To The Past."

At 10:00 a.m. on Friday, the various Kagay-anon chapters and groups will be re-introduced and with their banners, they will parade around the hall. A presentation of various entertainment numbers from Cagayanons abroad will follow, after which lunch will be served as well as the bidding for the hosting of the next Tapok.

On Saturday, Sept.29, the Tapok activities include business presentations for those who are interested about premiere investment opportunities in Cagayan de Oro and a Gala Night at the Main Ballroom of the Tuscany Suites.

The Tapok 2007 ends on Sunday, Sept. 30 with a mass and breakfast. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
