Tornado victims in Bacolod City get help
Bacolod City (27 September) -- City Mayor Evelio Leonardia led in the distribution of food assistance to 32 families affected by a tornado that hit Puroks Bolinao, Lison and Tanguige at Brgy. I, Bacolod City recently.
The assistance was in the form of rice, noodles and canned goods given to the affected families.
The goods came from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region VI Director Teresita Rosales.
Mayor Leonardia told the affected families that the food assistance is only part of the City's support.
Leonardia said that the city government is now processing the release of financial assistance for the repair of their houses.
P5,000 is given to families with totally-damaged houses; P3,000 to those partially-damaged and P1,000 to partly-damaged houses.
DSWD has assessed four (4) totally-damaged houses and twenty eight (28) damaged houses.
Families affected by the tornado appreciated the assistance of the city government. (PIA/cad) [top]
