152 benefit from PGMA-TWSP in Basilan
Isabela City, Basilan (27 September) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, through the PGMA Training for Work Scholarship Project (PGMA-TWSP), is providing full or partial scholarship grants to high school graduates, employed persons but ready for a career change, and the underemployed or unemployed.
As of 26 September 2007, TESDA Basilan has distributed a total of 152 scholarship certificates. The table below details the distribution by sector.

The objectives of the project are: (a) to provide skills and competencies to job seekers through appropriate training programs that are directly connected to existing jobs and immediate employment; and (b) to empower TVET private and public education and training institutions to offer relevant training programs that meet job requirements.
As the lead agency in the PGMA-TWSP implementation, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) through its regional and provincial offices, is responsible for the distribution of the scholarship certificates/coupons to interested and qualified applicants.
TESDA Basilan TESD Specialist Faida Latip said an Impact Evaluation Study, especially on the employment of scholars shall be conducted six months after their graduation.
