Boy and girl officials govern Capiz capitol

Roxas City (27 September) -- A set of boy and girl officials from various public secondary schools provincewide holds various key positions in the provincial government from September 24 to 28 in view of the Boys and Girls Week celebration.

The senior student officials are led by Capiz boy governor Jonathan Gonzales and boy vice-governor Ray Ben Goto of Pontevedra National High School and Jagnaya National High School in Jamindan town, respectively.

The chosen board members for the province's first congressional district include Maayon National High School's Relette Shane Dangdang and Capiz National High School's Special Science and Technology Class (CNHS-SSTC) Steffany Bacalangco, Maria Irene Macabebe, Ma. Katrina Carmela Barrios, and Joseph David Cosico.

Meanwhile, the second district board members are Abegail Celestial of Jagnaya National High School, Reychell Mae Gallenero and Bernadette Hinguillo of San Nicolas National High School in Tapaz town, Noel Valing of Ivisan National High School, and Winnie Ann Lomosad of Jamindan National High School.

The representation at the provincial legislative council for Philippine Councilors League is managed by Jason Anthony Bisnar of CNHS-SSTC, Liga ng mga Barangay by Jinky Vergara of Pontevedra NHS, and Sangguniang Kabataan by Ermie Joy Joaquin of Vicente Andaya, Sr. National High School based in Sigma town.

The Rotary Club of Metro Roxas, which leads the week-long celebration in the province, conducted the rigid screening and selection for the set of officials from among the nominees of various public secondary schools.

Highlights of the celebration include boy and girl officials attendance and delivery of privilege speeches as well as presentation of resolution and ordinances at the Capiz Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) regular session, press conference, and site visitation to various provincial government projects and major installations.

The set of officials got the opportunity to be oriented on the structure, functions and development direction of the province, budget preparation, and structure and function of the SP and its different committees.

A lecture on parliamentary procedures and internal rules of the SP as well as practicum on drafting of resolutions, ordinances and privilege speeches was imparted to the young officials.

They have also been formally introduced to their provincial official counterpart before an immersion to their office of assignment. (PIA/A. Lumaque) [top]
