Anchored on the theme, "Statistics and Action: A Road to Better Life Through the Millennium Development Goals," this year's National Statistics Month celebration, underscores the crucial and significant role of statistics in the pursuit of the Millennium Development Goals, Ms Evangeline Paran of the National Statistical Coordination Board in the Region said.
Statistics provide the basis for monitoring progress achieved on such sustained action since 1990. Being well-informed of these statistics is important for the national and local governments and in the Region's development as partner to take proper action and implement targeted strategies leading to a road to a better life in 2015 and beyond.
The National Statistical Month, which was first observed in 1990 pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, Declaring the month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month, intends to promote, enhance and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation on the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society and at the same time elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standard of statistics in the country.
