Mt Province commends NFA

by Andrew Doga-ong

BONTOC, Mt. Province (28 September) -- Provincial officials here lauded the National Food Authority (NFA) for their valuable contribution in ensuring food security in the province particularly the availability of rice.

Governor Maximo Dalog, in his message read during the provincial celebration of the 35th NFA anniversary, commended the NFA stakeholders for their dedicated and sincere service to meet the food needs of the people of the province.

The provincial observance of the NFA anniversary was participated in by NFA Bontoc provincial staff and the members of the Confederation of Grains Retailers (GRECON) Mt. Province Chapter or the NFA accredited rice retailers in the province.

The governor noted the very visible and available good quality yet low-priced rice displayed in the markets and in the different NFA accredited rice outlets scattered in the municipalities and depressed barangays.

NFA provincial Manager Celedonio Mendoza said that at present there are 224 accredited rice outlets including the 80 Department of Social Welfare and Development- supported Tindahan Natin Outlets selling the staple food.

Dalog said the NFA family in Mt. Province has displayed apparent concern, care and industry in their daily toil and labor while continuously pursuing activities and programs for the people's welfare.

In the same gathering, Mendoza told the rice stakeholders that NFA Mt Province was adjudged as the most outstanding NFA provincial office in Region II this 2007 while the GRECON Mt. Province chapter was given a plaque of recognition for its continuing commitment and compliance to the Philippines Grains Standardization Program as well as the NFA rules and regulations.

Mendoza said the giving of awards were the main highlights of the Regional celebration activities of the NFA's 35th anniversary held last week at Santiago City, Isabela.

Mendoza added that this is the first time in the history of NFA Mt Province that it has received two awards of recognition. (PIA MP) [top]
