Lagawe imposes numbering of houses and buildings

by Dan B. Codamon

LAGAWE,Ifugao (29 September) -- Because of its booming economy and the growing number of building constructions, an ordinance imposing the numbering of all houses and buildings in four center barangays of this town was enacted.

Authored by Sangguniang Bayan member Johnny Nabanalan, the Ordinance known as "House Numbering Ordinance of Lagawe" declared to impose numbering of all houses including residential, commercial, industrial, religious and all other buildings and establishments for easy location and access of communication.

This stemmed from the observation that as the capital town which is fast growing and with increasing population, the problem of locating a particular house, building or any establishment is now becoming a problem as they do not have numbers for easier identification.

House numbering is still strange and unknown in the municipalities of Ifugao so this initiative that will cover the four adjacent barangays of Poblacion East, Poblacion West, Poblacion North and Poblacion South of this capital town, can be considered a first.

The ordinance shall be implemented by the barangay officials of each area covered to be assisted by the barangay tanods, the Municipal Assessor's Office and the Municipal Treasurer's Office.

The numbering will start from all puroks of each barangay and the size of the material for the number will be a 4" x 8" aluminum plate to be installed in each of the houses or building structures.

The amount of P50.00 will be charged and collected from the owners of the houses and buildings as installation fee.

According to Nabanalan, the amount of P100,000 was already allocated for the implementation of said ordinance. (PIA Ifugao) [top]
