First Leyte business month kicks off
Tacloban City (September 30) -- The First Leyte Business Month celebration will start officially on October 1 with a series of activities that will surely make a big bang on the month-long activities.
Mr. Orlando Uy, president of the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry which is spearheading the month-long celebration together with the Provincial Government of Leyte, said that the activities will start with a Motorcade at 8:00 o'clock in the morning.
Assembly point is at the SMED Center at the provincial capitol grounds, Mr. Uy announced, From there, the motorcade will take the route of the major thoroughfares in Tacloban City to make the people aware of the celebration which has for its theme, "Together We Can."
After the motorcade, the launching program will be conducted at the Governors' Hall cum Museum at the second floor of the Provincial Capitol where Mr. Orlando Uy will officially welcome the guests.
Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla who has been advocating the development of investment opportunities not only in the province of Leyte but of the entire Region 8, will deliver the Opening Remarks.
A self-made IT businessman, the Governor was able to work for the declaration of the Leyte IT Center as a PEZA zone.
The Keynote Message will be delivered by Mr. Jose Ng, the Area Governor for Eastern Visayas of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is expected to expound the theme and to inspire the people of Leyte in their endeavor to present Leyte as a potential investor hub. He will be introduced by Engr. Junie Andrade, immediate past president of the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mr. Henry Weechee, LCCI Director will serve as the program host.
After the luncheon which is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a press conference will be conducted by the Philippine Information Agency at the Leyte Provincial Capitol Conference Room. (PIA 8) [top]
