Cine Europa 10 opens in Davao City on October 11
Davao City (10 October) -- The Cine Europa fever now hits Cebu City!
Continue to experience the magic of film and experience once more the charm, grandeur, diversity and uniqueness of the culture and heritage of the European Union.
Watch out for Cine Europa as the festival marks its 10th year and opens in Gaisano South Citimall on 11 October. The festival will be held in Davao City until 15 October 2007.
From Summer in Berlin to United Kingdom's Shooting Dogs to Hungary's Sex and Nothing Else, this year's Cine Europa promises to be bigger and better because the films coming from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
This year's festival is doubly significant, not only because this is the 10th year of Cine Europa, but also due to the celebration of the 50th year of the Treaties of Rome.
The 10th year of Cine Europa in Davao City will be marked by an opening reception on 11 October 2007 by EC Ambassador Alistair MacDonald and British Council Director Andrew Picken. A representative from Gaisano South Citimall will also deliver a message.
EC Ambassador MacDonaldd said that Cine Europa 10 has expanded and has gone bigger and better to enable the European community to share its unique yet diverse European culture and heritage to more peoples throughout the Philippines.
Cine Europa, which started in 1998, remains to be a distinctive acknowledgement of the partnership of the European Community with the Philippines by way of sharing with the Filipino public the diversity and uniqueness of European film culture. The festival started in Davao City in 2005 with the European Community forging partnership with the Gaisano South Citimall. Admission to the screenings is free on a first-come, first-served basis.
