National Computer Center awards best LGU websites in Region 8

Tacloban City (October 10) -- The National Computer Center (NCC) will present the awards to the winners of the Best Local Government Unit Websites in Eastern Visayas.

The awarding will be conducted on October 18, 2007, 1:30 in the afternoon at the Conference Room 1, Leyte SMED Center at the Leyte Capitol Grounds in Tacloban City, during the meeting of the Regional Information Technology and E-Commerce Committee.

The Best Local Government Unit Websites awards in the Region is classified into three categories, municipal, city and provincial levels.l

This was learned from Director Cynthia Nierras of the Department of Trade and Industry, who is also the chairperson of the RITECC.

Another awarding ceremony will be conducted for the winners of the first Leyte Province Business Month Theme Graphic Digital Design Competition, Director Nierras added.

It would be recalled that the whole month of October has been declared through an ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, as the Leyte Business Month celebration.

Among the agenda of the RITECC meeting is the June ICT Month Post Activity Report and the 4th Quarter 2007 RITECC activities.

Director Nierras called on the partner agencies in the RITECC to attend the forthcoming meeting and to continue to support the thrusts which are the tools towards making Region 8 an IT hub or destination.

Already, positive developments are being felt in the IT sector, Director Nierras said. The only way for Region 8 to go is to move forward towards the realization of the common goal. (PIA 8) [top]
