Capiz cops nab poll gun ban violator

Roxas City (10 October) -- A violator of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) election gun ban has been apprehended by Roxas City Police Station operatives on October 4 along Washington Street here since the prohibition of carrying firearms was implemented on September 29 view of the upcoming October 29 polls.
The Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) report to Police Regional Office (PRO) - 6 showed that firearm seized was a caliber.38 revolver with live ammunitions.
COMELEC Resolution No. 8264 detailed the calendar of activities and periods of certain prohibited acts in connection with the synchronized elections of barangay and sangguniang kabataan officials on Oct. 29.
"Carrying of firearms/deadly weapons, including wearing of uniforms, insignias, etc. are prohibited by the Omnibus Election Code as amended by Section 32 of Republic Act 7166," stated the poll announcement.
Meanwhile, the CPPO has apprehended a total of 42 COMELEC gun ban violators from January 14 to June 13 in view of the May 14 national and local elections.
The accomplishment includes a total of 49 firearms confiscated during the period based on the CPPO semi-annual report submitted to the PRO - 6 last June. (PIA) [top]
