Workshop tackles East Visayas info sharing network 3-year plan

Tacloban City (November 7) -- In order to chart its situation, three years from now, the Eastern Visayas Information Sharing Network under the Regional Development Council of Eastern Visayas is conducting a two-day planning workshop at the Ritz Tower de Leyte.

Participated by the webmasters of the various line agencies and members of the Regional Development Council of Eastern Visayas, the workshop started on November 7 with the analysis of the current situation.

Miss Claire Fernandez of the National Computer Center discussed the Philippine ICT Roadmap while Mr. Glenn Ocana of the Department of Science and Technology discussed the recent developments in the ICT in Eastern Visayas, in order to set the framework for the workshop.

Miss Tess Labrador dwelt on the e-Government initiatives in Region 8 and on the results of the survey with stakeholders. Afterwhich, Mr. Greg Comendador presented the EVISNet, the MTRDP and the NEDA 8 IT Plan while the Advance Technologies in Webbased Development was presented by Mr. Christopher Natan.

In the afternoon of the first day, the participants will assess the current responses, what the EVISNET has been doing to make a difference by knowing the status of the EVISNET, its legal mandate and history, the Kidlat prepair internet card and interconnectivity.

The participants will also identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of EVISNET in providing support to e-Government initiatives in Region 8 and will describe the future scenario, where EVISNET will be three years from now.

Hence, the participants will set a goal and objectives, define the strategies and activities in order to get to where they want EVISNET to be, find the resources and put it all together. (PIA 8) [top]
