Eastern Visayas media sets induction

Tacloban City (November 26) -- The Eastern Visayas Tri-Media Association will hold its 3rd induction affair on November 27, 2007, Tuesday evening at the SMED Center, Capitol grounds here.
Secretary Victor A. Domingo, Presidential Assistant for Eastern Visayas and PCSO Director, will induct the new set of officers of the association while NLRC Commissioner and former president and founder of the Leyte Samar Journalists Association Aurelio D. Menzon will swear in the new members.
To be inducted are Rene V. Amano of The Tacloban Star, president, who will take over the reins of the association in lieu of outgoing president Nestor Abrematea.
The other officers to be inducted are Lalaine M. Jimenea of Eastern Visayas Mail, vice president; Ulysses F. Macato of Far East Broadcasting, secretary; and Engr. Gorgonio M. Caing of EV Mail, treasurer.
Board of directors are Nestor L. Abrematea of The Manila Bulletin/Tempo, Broadcasters Lino S. Radam and Conrad R. Tecson, Prof. Rolando Borrinaga of Philippine Daily Inquirer/The Tacloban Star; Luis P. Kalingag, Jr., of The Tacloban Star; Restituto Cayubit of The Manila Bulletin, Broadcasters Roy C. Tolibas, Rey Ledesma, Eric Tupaz of DYDW and Rico J. Cajipe of Peryodiko Leyte˝o.
Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho L. Petilla, Calbayog City Mayor Mel Senen Sarmiento,RDC chairman; PIA 8 Regional Director Olive P. Tiu, Maj. Gen. Armando Cunanan of the 8th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army in Catbalogan, Samar; Chief Supt. Abner Cabalquinto, PNP regional director, and Office of the Civil Defense Regional Director Salvador G. Estudillo have been invited to deliver their messages during the affair.
Popular Waray-Waray singer and composer Joseph Uy of Catbalogan, Samar will render his favorite Waray-Waray songs during the said occasion.
The Eastern Visayas Tri-Media Association is the only aggrupation of print and broadcast media practitioners of Region 8 and the association is duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The association hosts the weekly forum "Meet The Press" at The Tacloban Star Media Hall in Tacloban City every Saturday morning. (PIA) [top]
