Womynet prepares for International Human Rights Day

Davao City (30 November) -- Womynet executive director Sis Josephine Bacaltos said women groups and other associations are now preparing for the International Human Rights activities which is celebrated every December 10th.
One of the highlights is a visitation at the City Jail of female inmates for a build-up activities geared towards increasing the spiritual and morale of women prisoners in.coordination with AACTS spearheaded by former Judge Adoracion Cruz-Avisado.
On December 7, Womynet group together with other women associations will visit the Correctional for Women at Sto. Tomas, Kapalong Davao del Norte.
The Womynet secretariat said the assembly time is 7:30am Hotel Elena at Lanang, Davao City.
The International Human Rights activities, organized by various women organization in Mindanao would highlight the valuable contributions of women in their respective organizations supported by Womynet group.
"It is timely for women group to promote human rights, gender and development to ensure that women's role in nation building is being observed," Sis Jo Bacaltos said.
Activities during the December 10th International Human Rights celebration hopes to provide inputs on human rights and development while women associations will be given opportunity to formulate and come up with actions and agenda for the promotion of human rights.
"We aim to establish a sustained camaraderie among women associations in Mindanao region and build up networks with them, Sis Bacaltos" said.
The forthcoming International Human Rights Day is open to both female and male sector so that male population would also appreciate their role in nation building and in the promotion of human rights for every individual.
All other women organizations are also enjoined to hold their respective actitivies for the forthcoming International Human rights celebration and be a part of nation building and women development. (Ajina-Womynet/PIA) [top]
