BIR-16 collects P1.01 billion revenues in 3Q 2007

Cagayan de Oro City (5 February) -- Some Php1.01 billion in revenues have been collected by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Revenue Region 16 in Northern Mindanao, during the third quarter of 2007, up by 9.5 % compared to Php922,635,944 in the same period of 2006.
"Except for the excise tax which posted a decrease, all collections for other types of taxes increased," Regional Director Mustapha Gandarosa of BIR-16, said
He said "Percentage" taxes posted the highest increase of 37.2%, from Php41.321 million in the 3rd quarter of 2006 to Php56.711 million during the same period in 2007.
This was followed by "Other" taxes or taxes derived from penalties, fines, surcharges, documentary stamps, real estate, capital gains and transfer taxes which also increased by 22%, from Php60.413 million to Php73.722 million.
Likewise, Value Added Taxes (VAT) posted a growth of 21.7%, from Php231.899 million to Php282.303 million followed by "Income" taxes with 1.4%, from Php588.906 million to Php597.082 million. But "Excise" taxes dropped by 24.2%, from Php97,182.60 to Php73,692.
On a per Revenue District (RD) performance, Gandarosa said RD 100 of Ozamiz City posted the highest increase of 46.6%, from Php77.744 million in the 3rd quarter of 2006 to over Php113.965 during the 3rd quarter of last year.
Next was RD 102 of Gingoog City, which had the smallest share of the total regional collections but increased by 23%, from Php38.608 million to over Php47.489 million.
Again, RD 99 of Malaybalay City posted a growth of 19.5%, from Php118.416 million to over Php141.507 million, followed by RD 101 of Iligan City with 16.7%, from Php151.227 million to over Php176.558 million.
However, RD 98 of Cagayan de Oro City which had the biggest collection of over Php530.374 million during the period posted a decline of 1.2% compared to its collection of Php536.640 million in the same quarter of 2006, Gandarosa added. (PIA 10) [top]
