Oro PESD serves 21,315 job applicants in 2007

Cagayan de Oro City (5 February) -- THE Public Employment Service Division (PESD) has served a total of 21,315 job applicants in Cagayan de Oro City last year.

Juvy Paza, PESD manager, said that of the total number of job applicants, 11,626 were referred for possible employment while 5,391 were placed to various vacant jobs posted by local and international firms.

Under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), PESD received 1,200 applicants, referred 900 and placed 782 college students.

Paza added that for overseas employment, the PESD facilitated 668 job applicants, referred 542 and successfully placed 296 workers.

Paza said that she is hoping that more unemployed residents will be served this year with the opening of more business establishments in the city since January this year. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
