RTA organizes multi-sectoral group for traffic, anti-crime drive

Cagayan de Oro City (5 February) -- IN line with its continuous effort to keep the streets of Cagayan de Oro orderly, the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) initiated the creation of a multi-sectoral organization to help the city government along traffic maintenance and street crime prevention.

RTA Administrator Filipino Amoguis said that together with the national line agencies and non-government organizations, the Safekeepers Club International of Region 10 was formed to support the city government's program in promoting clean, orderly and safe streets of Cagayan de Oro.

The members are required to help and assist the traffic management of the city, as well as act as advocates in crime prevention and public safety; report any crime, emergencies, public safety violations, illegal activities, drugs, and all things inimical to the national security and development; respond emergency cases like crime, accidents, fire, life-threatening cases and other public safety cases; monitor would-be crime, public safety violation, traffic violations; and help educate the people on traffic rules and regulations and observance of the rule of law.

The members are the following: Honorary chairman and adviser- Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula; Adviser- Vice Mayor Vicente Y. Emano; Chairman for Region 10- City Councilor Alfonso Goking; Executive Vice-President- DILG-10 Regional Director Quirino Libunao; Vice President for Traffic Operation- LTO-10 Regional Director Porkawa Dia; Vice President for Community Safety Operation- Ret.
