Oro establishes CBFMA areas, tree parks, reforestation project in 2007
Cagayan de Oro City (5 February) -- THE City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) processed two Community Based Forest Management Agreements (CBFMA) in 2007 which benefited a total of 125 landless farmers.
This was disclosed by Roy Baltazar, CLENRO supervising environment management specialist as he added that they have evaluated during the period, the contract holders of the Certificate of Stewardship Contract and facilitated the Handog Titulo Program for a total of 151.9161 hectares of land benefiting 207 beneficiaries.
Under its reforestation project and tree park establishment, the CLENRO planted a total of 1,825 assorted fruits and 14,200 forest trees in six reforestration projects in Dansolihon; planted 670 mangoes in 10 hectares of multi-partite reforestation project in Tablon; planted 1,600 assorted fruit trees and 1,000 forest trees in a 10-hectare project site for Greening CDO program in Sitio Canaan, Dansolihon.
It also planted 5,500 assorted forest trees and bamboo along the 20 kilometers riverbank of Balulang to Dansolihon for the Riverbank Rehabilitation Project and planted 3,150 assorted fruit and forest trees and Bamboo in the 44 hectares and 1,750 meters for the Barangay Tree Parks.
The CLENRO proposed seven sites for the eco-tourism park development and maintained one plant nursery which produced 1,983 forest trees; 2,300 Graminae and 3,043 fruit trees; distributed 3,347 forest trees; 1,711 Graminae and 2,271 fruit trees. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
