Oro PPP serves 60,430 residents last year
Cagayan de Oro City (5 February) -- THE city government of Cagayan de Oro served a total of 60,430 residents in the barangays through the several People to People Program (PPP) held last year.
The Community Affairs Division of the City Mayor's Office, which serves as a secretariat for barangay affairs, disclosed in its annual accomplishment report to City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula that a total of 27 PPPs were held in the city last year benefiting a total of 32 hinterland and urban barangays.
The annual report from CAD revealed that of the total number of residents served by the PPP last year, 27,084 residents availed of medical consultation with free medicines; 3,655 residents availed of dental services; 3,24 children were circumcised; 1,119 couples availed of the mass wedding ceremony; and 2,132 residents availed of late registration.
A total of 7,598 indigent families also received rice and grocery assistance during the PPP last year while another 10,266 children availed of the nutritional feeding; 2,183 farmers availed of veterinary services for their farm animals and 3,151 residents availed of other services offered during the city government's outreach program.
In support of the city government's food security program, a total of 6,549 seedlings of high-value fruit trees and another 7,600 packs of assorted vegetable seedlings were also distributed to barangay residents during the PPP last year.
The People to People Program is a regular program of the city government implemented since 1998 to provide an opportunity for residents in the barangays to avail of the basic city government services right in their own community. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
