CSC sets Feb. 8 deadline for professional, sub-professional exam applications

Tacloban City (6 February) -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC), Region 8 headed by Regional Director Rodolfo B. Encajonado, announces its scheduled deadline for the Career Service Professional, and Sub-professional written examinations applications, which is set on February 8, 2008, hence, applicants are urged to immediately file their applications now.
Said examinations, which have an examination fee of P350.00, are open to applicants who are Filipino citizens and at least 18 years old, regardless of educational attainment.
To hasten the processing of applications, CSC requests applicants to strictly observe and comply with the requirements and for them to personally file their exam applications at the CSC Regional or field office in their area.
The exam applicants are required to properly accomplish the CS Form No. 100, Revised 2005; attach four pieces of recent and identical 1.5"x2" I.D/ pictures, taken not more than three months, with full name tag; and original photocopy of one valid I.D. card.
CSC emphasized that scanned, digitally enhanced, photocopied and cutout pictures, and pictures with incomplete or without nametag are strictly not acceptable. Application forms maybe downloaded from the CSC website www.csc.gov.ph or from any CSC regional or field office.
Further, CSC bared that the Career Service Professional and Sub-professional written examinations will be conducted nationwide on March 9, 2008. In Region 8, the testing centers are in Tacloban City and Maasin City, hence, applicants for the Tacloban City testing center are advised to file their application forms at the Examination Services Division, CSC Regional Office No. 8, Government Center, Candahug, Palo, Leyte or at any CSC Provincial Office. Relative to this, CSC disclosed that the Career Service examinations may be taken once every three months and up to four times only, regardless of the gap in between. Examinees who fail on the fourth attempt can apply for the same level of examination only after two years from the date the fourth failed examination was taken.
Meanwhile, according to CSC, the Civil Service examination aims to measure verbal, analytical, numerical, and clerical skills. Items that will be covered for the Professional level includes vocabulary, grammar and correct usage, paragraph organization, reading comprehension, analogy, logic, and numerical reasoning.
For the Sub-professional level, the same subject areas are likewise covered except for analogy and logic and, in addition, spelling and clerical operations. Topics on the Philippine Constitution, government work ethics or Rep. Act 6713, peace and human rights concepts, and environment management and protection will be covered in both levels.
On the other hand, CSC would like to announce that the results of the October 28, 2007 Professional and Sub-professional examinations from NCR, Regions II, V, VII, VIII, XI, CAR and ARMM are already posted at the CSC website www.csc.gov.ph.
