An open letter of Rey Magno Teves, chair and convenor of The Lihuk Pideral Mindanao and secretary-general of Kusog Mindanaw stated that as a Dabawenyo and Mindanawon, he expressed his sincerest congratulations to the historic rise of the legislator.

"Please be assured of our support for whatever special efforts you would pursue to promote the Mindanao interest," Teves said.

He said they noted of Nograles recent statement proposing the election of delegates to a Constitutional Convention in conjunction with the national elections of May 2010.

He further said the Con-Con can convene later that year or the following year to propose amendments particularly the shift from unitary to federal system that will begin in 2016.

"I believe this could be a good starting point for a collaborative endeavor between the organized Mindanao groups and the first ever Speaker from Mindanao," he said.

He also asked God's full blessings and guidance in the performance of Nograles' new role as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. (PIA) [top]
