Tabuk urban planning reels off

by L. Lopez

TABUK CITY, Kalinga (8 February) -- Urban planning for this new city reels off with the setting up of the urban planning office tasked to lay out the development blue print of the local government.

Mayor Camilo Lammawin Jr said this is crucial as Tabuk City takes off to the mainstream of rapid growth and change, to perform as development hub of the province.

We need deep study on urban planning as we envision wide scale of changes to improve the lives of our people in the coming years, Lammawin said.

For a start, the city government will appropriate P5M as initial fund to the urban planning office, which is suggested to be coterminous with the project.

For the purpose, the city government seeks the assistance of other government agencies like the Kalinga Apayao State College in the provision of Geographical Information System (GIS) needed in land use and zoning.

With the plan, Lammawin said the city will be guided on its overall path to development, leading to our desired destination.

Dreaming to become a city also burdened us with great tasks and challenges, this we can effectively and efficiently carry out with the city's urban plan, he said.

This is part of the initial moves of the city leadership in giving answers to the dreams of our people who long have desired of a better place, Lammawin added.

The move is now at the Sangguniang Panglunsod for further deliberation and study before it becomes a final action of the city government. (PIA Kalinga) [top]
