Magnificent 7 Japanese Rotarians' visit, a good opportunity for Leyte tourism

Tacloban City (February 13) -- The scheduled visit of the Magnificent 7 members of the Rotary Club of Yotsukaido, Japan, is seen as another opportunity to present Leyte as an alternative tourist destination, Past District 386 Governor and Tanauan, Leyte Mayor Roque Tiu remarked when asked his reaction to the impending visit on March 2.

These Japanese Rotarians are all businessmen and they can do so much to encourage their friends and relatives to include Leyte and Region 8 in their itinerary when they come and visit the Philippines.

The visiting Rotarians, Rotary Club of Cebu South Past President Agapito Pagayanan, who is currently the Vice Mayor of Tanauan, Leyte said, are influential personalities in Japan, one being hospital owner and Past President of RC Yotsukaido; another is symphony conductor; one engaged in soil recycling; another one a used car dealer; the fifth one being a parking businessman while the last two are housing developer and insurance executive, respectively.

The Japanese Rotarians will arrive in Ormoc City from Cebu at 8:30 in the morning of March 2. After breakfast, the group will start their tour of the picturesque Leyte going to historic Japanese peace shrines in Burauen, Palo Hill 1522, Catmon Hill in Dulag and then back to Ormoc thru Tacloban City.

In Ormoc, the visitors will stay at the beautiful Sabin Hotel and will enjoy a sumptuous dinner at Sabin's Seaside Restaurant.

Hopefully, the short visit to Leyte will make the Rotarians thirst for more alluring sites and would make them return to Leyte, PDG Tiu commented. They are only seven but if each of them will enjoy and want what they see in Leyte, a multiplier effect will follow, he added.

The visitors will go back to Cebu the following day where they are expected to be guests at the 36th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Cebu South. (PIA 8) [top]
