12th East Visayas reg'l health research forum highlights presentation of papers by local researchers

Tacloban City (February 13) -- Director Edgardo Esperancilla of the Department of Science and Technology and Co-Chair of the Regional Health Research and Development Committee, announced the conduct of the 12th Regional Health Research Forum on February 15, followed by the RHRDC 8 General Assembly on February 16 at the Ritz Tower de Leyte, Tacloban City.

The Forum will commenced with the welcoming of the participants by DOH Director Tiogenes Baluma who is the chair of the RHRCD.

Among the 7 papers which will be presented during the forum, is the Risk Factors for the Development of Acute Renal Failure Among Patients with Diarrhea at the Department of Internal Medicine Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center by Dr. Maria Alma Eclipse.

Another paper which will be presented by Dr. Maria Pilipinas D. Jaya is the research on the Factors Affecting Compliance to Follow-Up of DM Type II Patients at the Diabetes Clinic of EVRMC, while Dr. Carlito Viojan II will present the Nutritional Status and Academic Performance of School Children in Basey 1 Central School.

The paper on KAP of Physicians Towards the Directly Observed Treatment Short-Course will be presented by Drl Babeth L. Magbuel, while the Toxic Effect of Commonly Used Herbal Plants as Alternative Medications will be presented by Mr. Ronald Madera.

The last two papers are those on Calcium and Fiber-Enriched Vegetable Fish Noodle: Its Quality and Acceptability which will be presented by Dr. Naomi Petronio; and Cytokine-Mimetic Properties of Some Philippine Food and Medicinal Plants which will be presented by Dr. Edgardo Tulin.

Dr. Fe Barquin, chair of the Research Management Sub-Committee will serve as the Moderator while Engr. Ernesto Granada, member of the Ethics Review Sub-Committee will present the synthesis.

After the awarding of plaques of appreciation to the presentors and reactors, Director Esperancilla will thank the presentors and the participants in his closing remarks. (PIA 8) [top]
