Catbalogan City (February 13) -- As February ushers the love month, Samar youth group Waray Waray Youth Advocates (WARAYA) will be offering once again a Love Concert for the young people as well as the young at hearts.
This will be WARAYA's third love concert since 2004 to raise awareness among youth and of adults regarding reproductive health that is of top priority in the cause of the youth organization.
Based on a press release of Waraya, the concert will be on February 29, 2008 at the Catbalogan City Plaza with support from the City Government of Catbalogan and our City Officials.
The concert aims to reinforce the viewing audience's understanding on the concept of adolescent sexuality and reproductive health.
The press release added that the proceeds of the concert will sustain the newly-opened WARAYA Resource Hub, a resource center for the young people of Catbalogan City and of Samar in general.
This concert is a musical variety show that will showcase the talents of WARAYA members from Calbayog City, Gandara, San Jorge, Paranas, Jiabong, Tagapul-an, Hinabangan, and Catbalogan City and serves as an informational show to educate the public about adolescent reproductive health. It will also feature local bands and local dance groups as well as WARAYA models and singers in a night of valentine fun and music.
Similarly, WARAYA will be conducting an audition for new models and singers to be featured in the concert. One-time audition will be on February 16, 2008; 6:00 pm at Cocina de Cabral. This aims to search for new breed of models and singers who will be advocating for youth empowerment and rights and further spread the advocacies of WARAYA.
Further, Ador Hurtado who penned the press release shared that they would want the youth to understand that there is a need to further educate them with the correct information and guide them to the future they deserve. WARAYA believes that true love waits. "Isang gabing sarap, buong buhay na hirap." Being young is neither an excuse nor being in love to make hasty decisions that may compromise one's future.
Presently, the youth organization enjoys the support of the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) and the Catbalogan city officials. (PIA-Samar/with Ador Hurtado) [top]
