PNP 6 to vigorously pursue anti-criminality, anti-terrorism

Iloilo City (13 February) -- Police Chief Superintendent Isagani R. Cuevas assumed office as the new regional director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) in a ceremony led by PNP Chief of Directorial Staff, PDDGen. Emmanuel Carta, yesterday at Camp Delgado, Iloilo City.

Director Cuevas replaced Director Wilfredo Dulay, Sr., who during his stint, the PRO 6 topped other regional police offices in crime solution efficiency.

In his inaugural speech, Cuevas acknowledged the accomplishments of his predecessor, and vowed that the PRO 6 will pursue with renewed vigor the operational thrusts of the PNP for anti-criminality, internal security operations, anti-terrorism as well as the over-all campaign against high profile crime, drug trafficking, other heinous crime and illegal gambling.

"We will explore all possible means available to further improve and develop our systems and procedures in both administrative and operational aspects of Command management," Cuevas said.

The New PRO 6 chief said that an integrated task force shall be created and enhanced to arrest and investigate and file charges against erring PNP personnel who are involved in illegal activities.

"I know that we can bring PRO6, the provincial/city police and police stations to rise to the challenges of time to satisfy the expectations of the people of Western Visayas at the same time enhancing our individual and unit capacity," he said.

Director Cuevas expressed confidence that PRO 6 will be able to contribute for the safety of Western Visayas that is a safe and conducive place for the community to live, to invest and do business and contribute to the economic prosperity of the country.

During the turn-over ceremony, Chief Supt. Geary Barrias, director of the National Capital Region Police Office and former PR0 6 director was also around to grace the activity. Other guests included members of PMA Class 75 and 77, Regional Directors of national government offices and local officials.

The new PRO 6 chief was Gen. Barias' deputy director for administration at the NCRPO. Prior to his assignment at the NCRPO, Cuevas had served also as chief of the Directorial Staff, Deputy Regional Director for Operations and Deputy Regional Director for Administration of the PRO6, and Provincial Director of Guimaras.(PIA) [top]
