BIR Bacolod eyes new office site
Negros Occidental (13 February) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is eyeing to purchase a lot within the provincial capitol property to serve as its new home when it leaves its present office in the PNB building.
Negros Occidental Vice Governor Isidro Zayco said that BIR is specifically banking to purchase the 4,000-square meter vacant lot in front of building of the Land Bank of the Philippines, owned by the provincial government. The lot has been rendered vacant since the ejection of the "squatters" in that area in 2004 and 2005.
Zayco said that the provincial government is still assessing the advantages and disadvantages of selling the land since the provincial government has also standing plans for more development projects in the site.
The land in that area, Zayco said, has been valued at around P 15,000 per square meter, which if sold, is really a big money for the provincial government which could be used for other projects. (PIA/cad) [top]
