Microsoft seeks to tap Mindanao markets

Davao City (14 February) -- Microsoft needs to tap still other markets within Mindanao after it gets good responses from several sectors especially in Davao in the matter of getting genuine software application.

Eric Olavides, sales manager, Microsoft Southern Philippines said Davao City after Cebu City is taking the lead in legalizing their product acquisition.

He said insofar as internet cafes are concerned, two internet cafes has shifted to genuine Microsoft products.

He said this is part of their advocacy to go legal and the signage of Microsoft will be displayed on these internet cafes indicating that their outlet uses only genuine software.

Olavides also said that with their true partners in the locality their campaign among businesses and organizations is on going.

He said they will be conducting a roadshow for the Mindanao cooperative association where a briefing and presentation will be held especially on Microsoft Office Small Business.

George Parrilla, Microsoft Southern Philippines marketing manager said they are offering to various organizations, associations and businesses the Microsoft Big 5 Deal.

He said buying five licenses of Office Small Business Edition 2007, they can get free office 2007 training voucher and partner installation of up to five PCs.

"What is good with Davao is they have the Association of Computer Business in Mindanao and this group is really strong and these are our partners," he said.

He said in Davao along their reseller-partner is about a hundred and they are the once that reiterates our campaign for legalization and going genuine.

He also said that when clients would ask them to install the product, they would advise that they will only install software that is authentic.

Parrilla admitted however that they still need to reach out to other sector aside from the small businesses where Mindanao has a lot of SMEs, the education sector, and other industries in agriculture and mining. (PIA) [top]
