Ipil gears for "Wow Zamboanga Peninsula"
Dipolog City (14 February) -- Preparations are underway for the holding of the WOW Zamboanga Peninsula, a tourism promotional campaign initiated by the Department of Tourism (DOT), set in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay from Feb. 15-26.
Participating local government units will be joining the float presentation and tourism trade exhibit. They will also present cultural shows featuring their respective history and culture.
The LGU tourism packages will focus on the diverse and attractive tourist sites, history and culture.
The 2008 Wow Zampen will coincide with Sibugay's founding anniversary on February 24 to be capped by Sibug festival.
In September last year Wow Zampen was held in Pagadian City in time for the founding anniversary of Zamboanga del Sur.
The Wow Zampen is the localized version of Wow Philippines, initiated and launched by then tourism secretary and now Senator Richard Gordon in Intramuros, Manila in 2003.
It is only region 9 that maintains vigorous campaign on tourism all over the country. In 2005, Wow Zampen was held in Zamboanga Cit, coinciding with the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival. The following year it was held in Dipolog City.
The Wow Zampen is initiated by DOT regional office led by Dir. Ricardo San Juan in coordination with the regional tourism council chaired by Atty. Allan Ranillo. (MO/PIA-ZN) [top]
