Mahinog municipal council declares Schoorlemmer couple as 'adopted sons'

by Homer R. Jajalla

Cagayan de Oro City (14 February) -- THE Municipal Council of Mahinog presided by Vice Mayor Rogerio C. Acle passed a Resolution conferring the title as "adopted sons" of the municipality of Mahinog in the province of Camiguin to Jo A.M. Schoorlemmer and Truss Schoorlemmer, couple-directors of Heetens Helpgood Center Philippines (HHCP).

Mr. and Mrs. Schoorlemmer have been actively involved in charity projects in the province, and in Mahinog since 2002 until the present.

Vice Mayor Acle said that the move to declare the Schoorlemmer couple as "adopted sons" was based on the many significant contributions the couple and the Heetens Helpgood Center Philippines rendered to the municipality in uplifting the living condition of the populace.

Among the projects were the provision of medical and health services to Camiguin General Hospital like beds, baby beds, bed linen, all kind of bandages, incubator, reanimation table, examination table, stretches, wheelchairs, rollators, including a two-storey building that houses the operating room and delivery room of Camiguin General Hospital;

Distribution of carpentry and automotive tools and medical instruments to Camiguin School of Arts and Trades and Camiguin Polytechnic State College; distribution of various materials and family packs to Day Care Center Preschoolers; turn-over and distribution of several units of sewing machines to the Women's Centers; delivery of toys, cribs, push carts, baby tub, basket and sleeping mattresses to the Provincial Government Child Minding Center;

Turn-over and distribution of school desks and chairs to Mahinog Central School and Mantigue Island Primary School; distribution of blood pressure meters, nebulizers and doplers to various health centers in Mambajao and Mahinog; and scholarship programs that started in 2003, benefiting a total of 35 scholars in Poblacion Mahinog and San Roque, including Mambajao town.

Jo A.M. Schoorlemmer paid a courtesy call to Mayor Alex R. Jajalla, Vice Mayor Rogerio C. Acle, members of the Municipal Council, department heads and employees at the municipal hall recently where a simple program was held in his honor.

Mayor Alex R. Jajalla welcomed Schoorlemmer and thanked him for being so generous to the people of Mahinog and the entire province. (Mahinog IO/PIA-Camiguin i-Net) [top]
