Oro RTA holds model driver seminars for operators, drivers

Cagayan de Oro City (14 February) -- IN line with its intention to instill courtesy and discipline among motorists, the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) recently conducted a total of 19 seminars on model drivers.

RTA Administrator Filipino O. Amoguis disclosed that a total of 1,207 drivers from various drivers and operators associations participated in the Model Driver Seminar.

Amoguis explained that promoting discipline and road courtesy among drivers and motorists can greatly help in ensuring the safety of passengers and pedestrians on the streets.

He added that the model driver seminar is in line with the city government's effort to ease traffic congestions in major streets which can be attributed to lack of road courtesy and discipline among motorists.

The RTA administrator hopes that the holding of the model driver seminar will have a positive impact in making the city streets accident-free and safe for the city residents and visitors alike.

Amoguis said that the streets are a show window to the city's tourism and motorists and pedestrians must do their share in ensuring safety and order in the streets.

The model driver seminar was participated in by drivers and operators of such associations as the United Integrated Driver's Association; Integrated Cagayan de Oro Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Camp Evangelista Operators and Drivers Association; Camaman-an Multicab Operators and Drivers Association; Igpit-Opol Drivers Association; Gusa Jeepney Operators and Drivers Group; Basong Multi-Purpose Operators and Drivers Association; Bayabas Operators and Drivers Association; Bonbon Operators and Drivers Association; Xavier Heights Operators and Drivers Association; Barra Integrated Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association; and Northern Mindanao Transport Union.

Barangay workers from Bonbon, Macabalan, Nazareth and private individuals from Xavier Estates and Liceo de Cagayan University also attended a seminar on traffic signaling and deputization of traffic agents. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
