DOLE to give P.1M for IPs' cloth weaving project
KASIBU, Nueva Vizcaya (February 15) -- At least 50 members of the Kalanguya tribe here are set to receive P100,000 from the Department of Labor and Employment this week.
Pacifico Moralit, DOLE provincial director said the tribal folks will receive the fund on Saturday (February 17) when Undersecretary Arturo Sodusta will visit the province.
He said the fund was sourced from the agency's Adjustment Measures Program (AMP) which intends to boost the livelihood projects in upland barangays.
"The fund is a support assistance of our agency to help livelihood organizations in developing their projects so that it will eventually help them support their family," he said.
Moralit said Sodusta's visit will also be highlighted by its handling of a check amounting to P2 million to the Malabing Citrus Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative to boost and develop their production of citrus varieties in this town.
Kasibu is emerging as the citrus capital of the country for its vast plantation that even expands from the Malabing Valley which is primary cultivated by indigenous peoples. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
