Roxas City (15 February) -- Barangay officials in Capiz are now undergoing seminars from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
BIR Capiz Information Officer Ma. Gracia Balgos disclosed that they have already started their Barangay Withholding Tax Seminar for the 16 towns and Roxas City in the province here.
Balgos revealed that the participants to said seminar are the barangay captains, treasurers and secretaries of every municipality.
She pointed out that said barangay officials are being oriented on their respective contracts or transactions on their purchases of supplies and materials.
According to her, the initiative is part of their activities in doubling their efforts in the government's tax campaign.
Balgos said that they are in close coordination with the local government officials in the province to raise more revenues for the government's social payback programs.
She said that aside from interpersonal information drive, the BIR continue its Premyo sa Resibo promo in order to help identify non-compliant taxpayers and those issuing fake receipts.
Earlier, Finance Secretary Margarito Teves said that the government will continue to push revenue-establishment measures in Congress, alongside the rationalization of fiscal incentives and proposed simplified net income tax plan. (PIA) [top]
