by Bennie A. Recebido

Sorsogon Province (February 15) -- The Kasanggayahan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (KAMUCO) through its chairman, Dr. Claro M. Lopez has formally received the P207,326 grant under the Promotion of Rural Employment and Entrepreneurship Development (PRESEED) Program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) during a simple turn-over ceremony held the other day here.

Alongside with the turn-over rite is the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing between DOLE and KAMUCO.

DOLE Provincial Field Officer Hilarion T. Zaragoza, Jr. said the grant will be used by the proponent for their Training-Cum-Production on Enhanced Coco-Vinegar Production Project.

According to him, KAMUCO has started venturing on coco–vinegar project for more than a year now, adding that, the grant through the efforts of the said cooperative, would surely help strengthen the coconut industry in the province of Sorsogon.

Counterpart of the recipient is the ten percent (10%) equity of the project's total amount and submission of terminal reports of the project implemented.

PRESEED has around six accredited Co-Partners in the province who also embarked on meat processing, agricultural product processing, women enterprise development focusing on garments and latest of which is the coco-vinegar production enhancement project.

Zaragoza said DOLE is open to give assistance to self-employed, non-government and peoples' organizations here in the province. They just have to apply as PRESEED Co-Partner, submit their project proposals and other pertinent requirements needed to qualify for a grant.

DOLE through the PRESEED program promotes self-employment among rural workers and their families aimed to deliver a package of inter-linked services. Such services include client development, social preparation and training including technical assistance for enterprise development and handholding or consultancy services. (PIA Sorsogon) [top]
