Hingyon receives P1-M from European Union

Hingyon, Ifugao (16 February) -- The Municipal government here received a P1Million fund from the European countries for the renovation of the rural health unit (RHU).
Mayor Ramon Tinawi said the RHU cannot accommodate in patients due to lack of rooms amount and the amount will be utilized in making the RHU a "lying in" health facility. He admitted that the said amount is not enough for the purpose thus he is lobbying with the provincial government to supplement the funds.
Hingyon is one of the municipalities here without a hospital thus most of the residents usually bring their patients to the nearby municipalities of Lagawe or Banaue especially if they have to be admitted.
Despite the inadequacy of other medical equipment, Tinawi is l thankful for the support of his employees under the health department. "Health is one of my priority programs because I believe in the saying that health is wealth," Tinawi said.
He informed that municipal health workers visit the barangays and conduct medical mission so that those who cannot go to the RHU for check up can be treated in their homes or referred to a hospital.
He also disclosed that he instructed the Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Dino Tuazon to purchase nebulizers to be distributed to all barangays to ease the burden of parents whose children are easily attacked with asthma or other bronchial diseases, which he attributed to the kind of climate the municipality has.
