DA 6 intensifies anti-rabies vaccination

Iloilo City (19 February) -- An intensified mass anti-rabies vaccination in the province of Guimaras was conducted by the Department of Agriculture-Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Center, recently.
According to Mr. James Earl Ogatis of the information division of the DA 6, some 410 dogs were vaccinated during the said three-day island-wide vaccination activity, in pursuit of the goal to attain a rabies free Guimaras by 2010.
The province of Guimaras is being considered as pilot site for the declaration of rabies-free zone in Western Visayas.
The move, Ogatis said is expected to help boost the tourism industry of the province of Guimaras and the region in general.
The island-wide vaccination activity was conducted in coordination with the local government units of the province of Guimaras. (PIA) [top]
