Siquijor PNP conducts moral recovery program

By Renan Ansing

Siquijor (19 February) -- The Maria Police Office in Siquijor province headed by Chief of Police PINSP Roy Awisan in coordination with the PNP Values Formation Council in region 7 conducted series of dialogue/ pulong-pulong on Moral Recovery Program and the ill-effects of illegal drugs to the town's 22 barangays last month.

Lectures and discussions were given to barangay folks and officials that hopes to instill in them ideals that are Christ-centered, character-centered, nationalistic, and environmental friendly.

The program, the PNP said is a movement that aims to mobilize all Filipinos for nation-building through the practical exercise of human values in their daily lives as citizens and to awaken all to the power of these values in achieving their individual and national goals. It also seeks to empower the people, the poor, the middle class and the rich through the sustained application of human values and a code of collective existence, the PNP said.

The program's vision is to make the country, Siquijor in particular. God - centered, people-empowered, prosperous community living in unity, justice, freedom, love and peace with its people in collective exercise and effective control over every aspect of their lives. It aims to see a place where least among us has a decent minimum of food, clothing shelter and dignity together with equal opportunities to make his or her life the fullest it can be.

The government also visions a democratic, responsive and effective; graft-free, transparent and self-corrective; with a community of civil and military servants who are professional, competent, disciplined and trustworthy.

"Our day in the sun will come if we redouble our efforts to achieve moral transformation, social justice and economic equality," President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said earlier.

The PNP lauded all barangay officials who gave their positive responsive to the activity of the local police. (PIA Siquijor) [top]
