Escalante City approves executive budget for 2008

Negros Occidental (19 February) -- The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Escalante City approved the 2008 Executive Budget of during its 6th regular session recently.

The budget was passed by members of the council October of last year for the deliberation of the body. The long-overdue 2008 budget has been very controversial and was believed to be the reason the Sangguniang Panlungsod was not able to hold sessions for 4 consecutive weeks.

The passage of the budget will mean implementation of the projects pending due to lack of funds to finance it.

Seven members of the council were present and was responsible in passing the said budget.

Also, part of the agenda was the SP's vigil to the bereaved family of the late Hon. Bismarck Sagal, a former councilor who was among the 1st members of then municipal council of Escalante in the 50's.

SP Virgie Pastor stressed that Valentine's Day is not only for lovers or sweethearts but also for them who dedicate their service to their fellowmen, especially that the long overdue Executive Budget for the year 2008 was approved on the day of hearts as well. (PIA/EAD) [top]
