PRO-2 one of best police regional offices for 2007

Tuguegarao City (February 19) -- Police officers of Region II take pride after maintaining their exemplary performance and successfully made it again as one among top 3 best police regional offices in the country last year.

During the celebration of PNP 17th anniversary at Camp Marcelo H. Adduru recently PCSupt. Ameto Gil Tolentino, Regional Director, highlighted the significant accomplishments of Regional Command in the realization of their thrusts on crime preventions, law enforcements, internal security operations and delivery of public safety services.

He said Region II has the least election related violent incidents during the conduct of May 2007 local and national elections and barangay and SK election last October 2007.

Tolentino also reveals that they have improved in the move to shoot capabilities after the acquisition of 43 vehicles from NHQ-PNP and 7 from LGUs and NGOs. They were able to purchase additional firearms and ammunitions, radios, cell phones, computers, fax machines and camera with the support of Local Government Units.

Tolentino reported that Region II was generally peaceful last year though there was a slight increase in the crime volume as compared to 2006. They attributed this to the relentless effort to implement specials laws in resolving crime incidents.

In his speech, he urged his policemen to keep the momentum of "Mamang Pulis" as an agent of change in reforming the police office as an epitome of good cop who is God-fearing, approachable dependable, presentable and humane. (PIA Cagayan) [top]
