Capiz top cop vows to sustain peace in province

by A. Lumaque

Roxas City (21 February) -- Capiz Police Director Senior Supt. Roberto Villanueva vowed to pursue the anti-criminality campaigns he started a year ago to ensure a peaceful and secured province for Capiceņos.

This was stressed by Villanueva in a text message about his plans for the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) under his incumbency as Provincial Director. He was installed as Capiz PNP Director last February 22, 2007.

"Our focus will be the same when I started last Feb 2007 to fight all threats to peace and security especially insurgency and criminality," he said.

On the PNP's anti-insurgency campaign, Villanueva stressed that "we have successfully prevented the insurgents from committing any violent activities."

The CPPO has also ensured a generally peaceful national and local as well as barangay elections in 2007.

Villanueva emphasized the problems on insurgency and illegal drugs in his message during the turn over ceremony last year.

"As far as criminality, we will be increasing operations on non index crimes which is the police initiated operations against criminality. Because of this effort, we expect that illegal gambling and illegal drugs will be further minimized if not totally eliminated," he noted. (PIA) [top]
