Lamut municipality establishes "internet ng bayan"

LAMUT, Ifugao (23 February) -- In a bid to make Information Technology (IT) accessible to the community, the local government unit (LGU) here recently launched the Community e-Center (CeC) or popularly known as "internet ng bayan" located at the Municipal Livelihood Center.
Project In-Charge Sangguniang Bayan secretary Dominador Valenciano stated that the "internet ng bayan" is an initiative of the Commission on Information and Communication Technology (CICT) in partnership with the municipal government geared to make information technology available to residents.
Valenciano also stressed that the e-center is a venue for research, people can download various files to suit their needs, communicate with other people worldwide and expand their knowledge through the information on the internet.
"There are three work stations ready for use. Popular applications are installed in each machine to serve every user that powered by an Operating System that can support other productivity applications for industrial design, photo editing and more," he said.
Morever, the LGU is also working to help families of Overseas Filipino Workers in the municipality through the CeC.
"Family members of OFWs are encouraged to use the CeC to contact their loved ones abroad and everyone is invited to avail the free service of the center. As of now, there were more than 400 clients served," he ended.
