Ifugao ALS conducts accreditation test

LAGAWE, Ifugao (23 February) -- The Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the Department of Education here recently conducted its 2008 Accreditation and Equivalency Test to 350 elementary and secondary students at the Division Office Function Hall.
Supervised by Arsenio Yongoyong, the ALS Coordinator of Ifugao, the examination aims to act as the mainstream for the formal education of students, give them eligibility for employment and give them personal satisfaction that at least they finish high school or elementary if they pass the test.
The ALS is one strategy of the DEPED to encourage students and out of school youth who did not continue their studies to give them their actual equivalence and accreditation that they can use for their personal purpose or if they plan to pursue a higher education.
Yongoyong said that there were 551 who registered to take the test but only 350 of the registrants actually took the examination and this may be blamed to the bad weather.
The breakdown of those who took the test includes 293 for the secondary school level, 6 for the elementary level, 49 for the walk-in secondary level and 2 for the elementary walk-in level.
Result of the examination will be released before the opening of the school year. (PIA Ifugao) [top]
