Davao City (23 February) -- People from all walks of life in Davao del Norte expressed their support to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in yesterday¢s Province-wide Multi-sectoral Forum on National Issues held at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan, Tagum City.
The participants were one in calling other sectors in the society to join them in upholding the rule of law instead of calling for another EDSA Peoples Power allegedly planned this Monday.
The manifesto of support, approved by the body, stated the peoples resistance to any unconstitutional mean to disrupt PGMA¢s socio-political economic reforms which they believe is now uplifting the quality of life of the Filipinos.
The forum was attended by different leaders in the government and other sectors headed by Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosario who stressed the imperative need of the locals to express their sentiments and not just allow people in Metro Manila to manipulate the lives of all Filipinos.
Other speakers who gave light to the participants were Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy, Providencia Nunez from the women¢s sector, Pastor Claro Loquias Sr from the religious, Demetrio Maligro from the Federation of Barangay Captains, Dr. Aurora Cubero from the education sector, and Vice Governor Victorio Suaybaguio.
The attendees believed that PGMA still deserved respect of the people as she has successfully brought in significant developments in the country.
PGMA was able to reaffirm international business confidence in the Philippines, consistently lays the foundation for a stronger and progressive Philippines, pushed for anti-poverty interventions that benefit the countryside.
Most of the participants in the forum expressed satisfaction and contentment on the services delivered by both the national and local governments in the Province of Davao del Norte.
They believed that all the issues overblown in the national level were mere distractions to undermine the paramount gains in the country's economy.
They are one in saying that the true sentiment of the people is to uphold the rule of law and that the ongoing unrest in Metro Manila does not truly reflect and represent the voice of the whole nation. (PIA) [top]
