Bacolod City cited 'Most Child Friendly' in Region VI

Bacolod City (29 February) -- Bacolod City bagged this year's Most Child Friendly City in the highly urbanized city category in Region VI.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia received the Most Child Friendly seal from National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Assistant Regional Director Stella Mendoza, Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Focal Person Christine Mendoza of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Regional Search Committee for the Welfare of Children, staff Patrick Oquindo in a simple rites at the mayor's office this morning.

Bacolod City Department of Social Service and Development (DSSD)-OIC Sally Abelarde said the city will represent the region in the national level to vie for the national distinction.

The closest the city has reached in this contest was in 2006 when it was included among the top three contenders along with Naga City and Makati City.
